Christ the Redeemer
Symbol of Brazilian Christianity, the statue has become an icon of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil.
Christ the Redeemer was considered as the greatest symbol of Latin America.
Made of reinforced concrete and soapstone. It is thirty meters high, not counting the eight meters of the pedestal, and its arms stretch for 28 meters in width.
The statue weighs over 1100 tons and is the third largest sculpture of Christ in the world, smaller only than Świebodzi's Statue of Christ the King in Poland and that of Cristo de la Concordia in Bolivia.

O Cristo is located at the top of Corcovado Mountain, 709 meters above sea level, in Tijuca National Park, overlooking most of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Made by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa and built in collaboration with French sculptor Paul Landowski and compatriot engineer Albert Caquot, between 1922 and 1931.
