Escadaria Selarón, also known as Escadaria da Lapa and officially Manuel Carneiro Street, is located between the neighborhoods of Santa Teresa and Lapa, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is just a 5-minute walk to the Arcos da Lapa.

In 1990, Jorge Selarón started to renovate some steps of the staircase, it was more of a hobby, but it soon became an obsession.
