The Church of Sant'Anna in Armação de Búzios - Rio de Janeiro is a rather old building, from the time of whaling, carried out in the mid-1740s, the church is stone, lime and whale oil mortar.

There are stories about the name given to the church, the first relates that the church was erected by Brás de Pina, a Portuguese contractor, to honor the saint who would have saved a ship with slaves from shipwreck.
The second version tells that the image of Sant'Anna was found in the sea by fishermen and that from that day the fishing was always good. and that during the construction of the church, the image of the saint miraculously changed position, positioning itself towards the sea during the night. these reports caused the church to be built facing the sea.
On the 26th of July, his day is celebrated. Sant'Anna is the patron saint of Búzios. The church remains open to the public with masses on Saturdays at 8 pm.
