Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas - Rio de Janeiro
Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas

In 1702, the young Portuguese cavalry officer, Rodrigo de Freitas de Carvalho, only 18 years old, gave his name to the lagoon. Widowed, Rodrigo de Freitas returned to Portugal in 1717, where he died in 1748.

The lagoon has 2.4 million square meters, where you can practice water sports such as rowing or a nice ride on a pedal boat.

A sculpture of a little Indian, called Curumim, was installed in Lagoa in 1979 to remember the inhabitants who lived there for a long time.

In its surroundings, there is a rowing stadium, a 7.5 km paved bike path, various leisure equipment and food kiosks, which offer regional and international cuisine.

It also has some parks around it, including Parque da Catacumba, Parque do Cantagalo and Parque dos Patins.
